Rules for World Cup Mode

Public rules for registration, gameplay, conduct, results, tiebreakers, disconnections, the final stage and VORTEX Committee decisions.

Documento operativo

Reglamento VORTEX FC26.

These rules exist so everyone knows how play works, how decisions are made, what happens in a tie or disconnection and how fair play is protected. Translation: less arguing, more football. Well, FC. You know what we mean.

1. Inscripción y pago

  • Tournament registration costs COP $20,000 per slot, unless VORTEX announces a different official fee.
  • Online pre-registration records your intent to participate, but the slot is confirmed according to payment, availability and committee validation.
  • Payment may be made in cash on event day if VORTEX announces that option.
  • VORTEX may close registration once the event's operating capacity has been reached.
  • A player who does not arrive on time may lose their slot if they delay the schedule.

2. Tournament format

VORTEX World Cup Mode uses an adaptable structure with 48 national teams, 12 groups of 4 and a knockout stage through the championship.

National teams48 national teams distributed among the players.
Groups12 grupos de 4 selecciones.
Clasificados1.º y 2.º de cada grupo + 8 mejores terceros.
EliminatoriaR32 → Octavos → Cuartos → Semifinal → Final.

3. Consolas y configuración

  • The tournament is played in PS5, salvo anuncio contrario de VORTEX.
  • The recommended setup uses dos consolas lado a lado.
  • Consola A puede operar Grupos A-F y Consola B puede operar Grupos G-L.
  • Players must check their controls before the match starts.
  • Once a match has started, it will not be replayed because of an incorrect configuration unless the committee decides otherwise.

4. Partidos y tiempos

  • Duración recomendada: 4-minute halves.
  • In the group stage, a tied score remains a draw.
  • In the knockout stage, a tie proceeds to extra time and penalties if the game allows it.
  • The committee may adjust match length for logistics, player count or delays.
  • A player must be ready when called. Failure to appear may result in a walkover loss.

5. Resultados y tablas

  • The official result is the one recorded by the VORTEX Committee in the tournament table.
  • Players must report the result immediately after the match ends.
  • If there is doubt, the committee may review a photo, screenshot, witnesses or the on-screen score.
  • Once confirmed and published, a result changes only for a clear error approved by the committee.
  • Standings are calculated using points, goal difference, goals scored and tiebreaker criteria.

6. Criterios de desempate

If two or more national teams are tied on points, the following order applies:

  • 1. Mayor diferencia de gol.
  • 2. Mayor cantidad de goles a favor.
  • 3. Menor cantidad de goles en contra.
  • 4. Resultado directo si aplica.
  • 5. Fair play / conducta.
  • 6. A draw or playoff match if the committee considers it necessary.

7. Final stage

  • The final stage begins with 32 selecciones clasificadas.
  • Matchups may be generated by seeding, group position or an operational committee decision.
  • Matches use single elimination.
  • A tie is decided by extra time and penalties.
  • The committee may adjust the bracket to prevent self-matchups or apply the anti-monopoly rule.

8. Anti-monopoly rule

Regla VORTEX: from the quarterfinals onward, each player may keep only one active national team. If a player qualifies with more than one, they must choose their main team. Additional slots will be filled by the best eliminated teams belonging to other players, based on points, goal difference, goals scored and fair play.
  • This rule is intended to preserve competitive variety in the final rounds.
  • It is not considered a penalty; it is an event-format rule.
  • The committee decides the final replacement if candidates are tied.

9. Conducta y fair play

  • No se permite agresión física, insultos graves, amenazas o conducta discriminatoria.
  • No se permite sabotear mandos, consolas, cables, configuración o pantalla rival.
  • Spectators may cheer but must not interfere with the active player.
  • The committee may warn, penalize or remove a participant.
  • Respect is mandatory. Light trash talk happens; destructive abuse does not. A beautiful thing: maturity with a controller.

10. Desconexiones, pausas y fallos

  • If there is a clear console, power, display or controller failure, the committee decides whether to replay or continue.
  • A player who pauses without a valid reason during a dangerous play may receive a warning.
  • If a controller fails, the player must report it immediately.
  • If the match has progressed too far, the committee may preserve the score and remaining time.
  • The final decision depends on evidence, context and the committee's judgment.

11. Comité VORTEX

  • The VORTEX Committee manages the schedule, results, rules, disputes and special decisions.
  • The committee may adapt the format in the event of delays, absences or technical problems.
  • Committee decisions seek to protect the event, fair play and the overall experience.
  • Participation implies acceptance of these rules and the committee's operational decisions.
